How to use Seer Stones

Seer stones have also been called Ema Stones, Ema eggs, Peep Stones, Window Crystals, Dreamers Crystals, Dragon Eye, and Dragon Eggs. I found a lot of names for the same thing.

They are generally made from a stone that has been naturally tumbled in a river.  This gives them a frosted look on the outside. Depending on the location that they are found in, they can be in forms of Quartz like AmethystClear QuartzRose Quartz, and Smokey Quartz, but they can also be found in Jade and different Calcites. When these frosted stones are cut and polished on one end, these faces or “windows” show their inside clearly. A lot of the quartz varieties seem to come from the Ema River in Brazil.  This is how they have also become known as 'Ema Eggs'.

Seer stones have been used as an aid to scrying for a long time with the first recorded history coming from the Bible.  They have been used as a divination tool by ancient prophets. They are most famous for their use in receiving divine communications from higher energies such as angels and guides or as described in the Book of Mormon, seer stones were a tool used to receive revelations from god. In the Book of Mormon, the founder of Mormonism, Joseph Smith placed a seer stone in a hat and then brought the hat close to his face so as to block out all the light. From within the darkness, the spiritual light would shine and the messages from god would be received. It is from these messages that he was guided to write the Book of Mormon.

It is said they can show you the past, future, and present by taking you deep within your inner self or connecting you to a 'Higher Power'. The stones have long been used in divination to reveal the past, present & future.

Today, many use seer stones to form a connection between intuition and guides to access higher knowledge and reveal truths. They are great for meditating with by holding a stone in the palm of your hand or placing a stone on the Third Chakra.

How to use a seer stone:

1. The first thing you want to do is connect to your seer stone, just like any other divination tool. You can do this by carrying it with you for an extended period of time, sleeping with it next to your bed or under your pillow, or meditating with it.

2. You then should use a grounding technique and make sure you are fully grounded.

3. Find yourself a comfortable spot where you can sit for an extended period of time. If practical, this is best done in a dark space so that the light of the stone can guide you more readily.

4. Use a guided meditation or guide yourself into a meditative state. When you reach a deep state of meditation, gaze into the window of the stone. The window may reveal one or many things that you need to know: mental impressions, visualizations, colors, words, and feelings.

Once you have received your message, close your eyes & sit with your message for as long as needed.

* It is also believed that you can program a Clear Quartz Seer Stone in order to go to a specific time so that you can access the knowledge you need from that time.

*You can also use them to get focus on a specific issue that you wish to have a great perspective on.   Keeping that thought in your mind project the image or thought into the window of seer stone then you clear your mind and place the crystal with the window facing down on your third-eye area.  Answers will now be shown to you allowing you to look more deeply within yourself and the situation.

Keep in mind that this doesn't always work the first time, as with any divination practice. It takes time to connect with your tool and for them to work with you, but Seer Stones will come to a person when they are ready and willing to take an honest look within and ready to accept the truth.
