We are all aware of the variety of shapes crystals and stones can come in, and while they are all beautiful and aesthetic in their own way, there is much more to each crystal shape in their meaning, energy output, and usage. Crystal shapes change the way that your crystal exerts energy. For example, a crystal carved into a sphere radiates energy evenly & from all sides, but a point directs energy upwards and outwards. Listed below are the different shapes you can find a crystal in and their meanings. Mind you, not everyone always feels the same about this and you must use your own intuition when using crystals.
Rough, Raw Stones
Rough raw stones are stones that are pulled from the ground and not tampered with in any way. They came straight from the Earth to your hand. Conventionally, rough crystals might appear less “pretty” next to their tumbled or smooth friends. However, they’re more powerful in their organic state. Their energy is the purest, strongest, and grounding of all energies. Keeping a rough stone in your pocket will help you stay grounded throughout the day.
Tumbled Stones
Tumbled stones are stones that have been rounded off by being tumbled in a machine. This process takes away any sharp edges and leaves a smooth, polished surface. They have a really subtle, gentle energy that radiates outward in all directions. In general, they feel a bit.
Towers
A crystal tower can be 4, 6, or 8-sided with a flat base for it to stand. Towers can be carved and polished into this shape or they can be made from a natural crystal point like Quartz, Amethyst, or Citrine by cutting the bottom to be flat so it can stand. The energy of a crystal tower is directed upward and out. Wherever they are placed they emit a very focused and directional energy that affects the area around it. Crystal spheres emit their energy from all sides, expanding to an entire room evenly. The circle resembles the circle of life and brings in life force energy and wholeness. Program your crystal sphere with a specific intention to release energy wherever it is placed or to aid you in meditating on a particular problem or healing a certain emotion. You can place a crystal sphere in the center of a grid to emit the energy/intention gently and evenly or use your sphere for scrying.
Clusters and Geodes
Crystal clusters and geodes have strong vibrational energies due to having many points combined together. Geodes, unlike clusters, have all of their terminations located on the inside. They are typically rounded and show no sign of crystals on the outside unless they are broken in half. Sometimes geodes are cut at the base so they can be displayed standing up. Each little point within a geode emits its own energy, making the inside of the geode very powerful and perfect for charging or cleansing tumbled stones or small crystals. Palm stone can be circular or oval shaped and small enough to fit in the average hand size. Some can be bigger in size or smaller in size. They have a smooth surface giving them a smooth and gentle energy that radiates around you like a sphere radiates around a room. These are usually used for anxiety, worry, and fidgets. Palm stones can be good for those who are extra sensitive to the energies of crystals since the energy output is softer.

Hearts are crystals shaped like a heart. Hearts can range in many sizes and styles. They give off a similar energy as a palm stone. They connect with the energy of the heart chakra and emit their energy in a very loving and gentle manner while giving us a sense of peace and harmony. The egg-shaped crystal is very similar to a sphere in that it emits energy from every side. However, its energy is more focused on the focal point at the top.
